Our Mission
Denver Friends Church exists to know and follow the real Christ in the real world.
Our Culture
This faith community is grateful for all those among us - from tentative seekers to seasoned men and women of faith. We journey together. We pray that God will graciously form within us a culture of spiritual vitality that is a distinguishing characteristic of our congregation.
To become and maintain a spiritually vital Christian culture, we pray that each person:
* Will have a current, personal relationship with the triune God
* Will be integrated into the faith community
* Will have a meaningful role of loving and serving others in Jesus' name
* Will have hope about his or her future
Our Focus
COMMUNION
We utterly depend on our people having a current relationship with God. Apart from Christ we can do nothing. Those who commune with Christ seek life together as a community of faith. That is,
COMMUNION leads to Community
COMMUNITY
Every person Connecting, Caring, and Informed. Out of a healthy fellowship of believers creative opportunities inevitably emerge to serve people in Jesus' name. That is,
COMMUNITY fosters Ministry
MINISTRY
Identify, Develop, Empower, and Encourage ministers. Ministry is serving people in Jesus' name. Such service is near to the heart of God.
MINISTRY returns us to Communion
with Him.
Our Guiding Principles
We want to respond first and always to Jesus Himself Who is truly present. Consequently, we pray for the grace to be:
WELCOMING. We welcome all to share with us the love of Christ.
ATTENTIVE. We listen for God's direction as revealed by the Holy Spirit through the Bible and the present Christ.
GENUINE. The practice of our faith is reverent and without pretense.
BIBLICAL. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that all God's people may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." - 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (TNIV)
SIMPLE. We intend to free our personal lives and corporate life of those things that distract from paing attention to Jesus and following Him.
ACTIVE. We are Jesus' friends if we do what He commands. We are not just hearers of the word. We pray our lives speak the Good News by our acts of faith.
INTERGENERATIONAL. We invest in the next generation and honor the preceding generations.
TOGETHER. We are abiding in Christ together. We are a faith community. We are connected to the broader community of Friends.
PEACEMAKERS. We are called to be ministers of reconciliation. We face social issues with Biblical integrity.
REACHING OUT. We intend to habitually share the love of God outside the walls of the church.
TRANSPARENT. Our church is conducted openly. Participation from the congregation is welcome in every venue.
You are my friends if you do what I command.
