DFC Business Meeting - Our next DFC Business Meeting is scheduled for tonight, July 28 at 6:00 PM. It will be held virtually through Zoom. Contact the church office for the Zoom information.

Prayer Station - We will be at Rocky Mountain Lake Park on 46th and Hooker on Thursday, July 30 from 9:00 –11:00 AM. We encourage you to join us either in person or through prayer for us during this time of our praying for others.

Men’s Ministry Breakfast - Men, come join us for breakfast this Saturday, August 1 at 8:30 AM in Phil Burgi’s back yard. We will enjoy food, fellowship, and prayer together.

In-person worship - Group B will be joining the worship service recording on Saturday, August 1 at 3:00 PM. Group A will join the recording session on Saturday, August 8 at 3:00 PM.

Quaker Chicks Meeting - Quaker Chicks is a group of women who gather to support our different missionaries. They will be meeting after the worship service recording on Saturday, August 1st (approximately 5:00 PM). Whether you are a Quaker Chick or just ready to have dinner and socially distanced fun with other women, you are welcome to join us. This is a “bring your own food/chair” event.  We will meet at the church and decide where to eat (hopefully the park). If you are planning to attend, please let Karen Burgi know.

The Bible From 1000 Feet - The Living With Christ class is pursuing a course of study in which we are reading/discussing chronologically through the Bible in about 1 year. We will finish Exodus on August 2. Please contact Susan Eisenhower to gain the Zoom information to participate by phone or internet. Contact Chuck Orwiler if you have any questions.

RMYM Summer Gathering cancelled - Due to the COVID-19 restrictions on Quaker Ridge Camp, the Rocky Mountain Yearly Meeting Summer Gathering has been cancelled. While most of the restrictions would be doable, the stipulation of only 10 people in any one setting was the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back. Our vision statement that "we are a family of churches," cannot be realized when we cannot actually be together in bigger groups.

· The Registration form and PayPal buttons will be removed from the Rocky Mountain Yearly Meeting website

· Refunds will be sent to those who have already registered and paid

· QRC may have an open time later in the year if we have an alternative plan later

June 29, 2020

Prayer Station - A Prayer Station will be set up at Rocky Mountain Lake Park (46th & Hooker) this Friday, July 3. Please pray about joining  us even if for just 30 minutes. It is an encouragement to us and those stopping by. Minimally pray that God brings those who need His encouragement. Call Mary Ford for questions or details.

Friends Drumming Outreach - Friends Drumming (FD) did not let COVID- 19 side line us. With the support and encouragement of Phyllis Lemons and Judy Van Meter we forged ahead using Zoom.  We have been ball drumming Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:15 AM-12:15 PM since late March. The list of invitees was at 16 for a while but as people have been able to return to work and we have less restrictions, the number is smaller now. However, we usually have a group of 6 and often 8 joining each session. We have many who are not DFC attenders. God is enfolding. We have been greatly blessed by having some people with DFC ties join us.

We use a variety of music and beat on the balls to the rhythm, each in our own space. We try to follow the leader but minimally we are moving, smiling and enjoying the time together. We end each session by sharing prayer requests and praying together.  SO….. anyone interested can join a Zoom Friends Drumming whenever it works for you.  Join a meeting between 11:00 and 11:15 AM on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Call/text Mary Ford to be on the invite list.  If you need a ball etc., also call Mary. If you have a bar stool and wooden spoons, you can improvise.

Fx Camps - Please be in prayer for Fx Camps! Specific prayer requests include

1) God’s working in the hearts and minds or our campers and staff

2) Our camp would be healthy and the COVID 19 restrictions would not be a distraction, and

3) All the last-minute details to work out.

Also, praise for our ability to have camp and the staff and campers God has provided.  We have less than 2 weeks until camp starts!

Senior High Camp – Will run from Sunday, July 12 to Wednesday, July 15 with a maximum of 40 campers.

Middle School Camp – Will run from Wednesday, July 15 to Saturday, July 18 with a maximum of 40 campers.

The Cost  for both camps is $250

RMYM Friends Women’s Retreat - Due to uncertainty and restrictions on camping programs RMYM Executive Board and the Retreat Planning Committee made the decision to postpone this year’s RMYM Women's Retreat to September 17-19, 2021.

Remember, you can donate online - Donate online at www.denverfriendschurch.com. Click on the “donate” button on the top right of the home page. You can also mail your check to the church office or to our treasurer, Kay Burgi. Thank you for your continued giving.

Virtual Worship Services - We will be continuing our Sunday Morning Service virtually as well as beginning in-person services sometime in July. Please see the announcement under the "COVID-19" tab for more information.

Youth Group cancelled this week - There will be no Zoom youth group this week, June 17. All 6th-12 graders are welcome to join them when they meet again next week.

Can you help physically or with your prayers? - We are planning to set up a Prayer Station this Thursday, June 18 from 8:30 AM-11:00 AM at Rocky Mountain Park, 46th and Hooker. Please join us physically or in prayer from your home.

What is a prayer station? A place near DFC where walkers, strollers, runners, bikers, and drivers can stop and leave a prayer request, have someone pray for/with them, and pick up items of encouragement such as the list of Scriptures from Pastor Frank’s Scripture Blitz. The prayer stations that have been manned in the last few weeks have brought in many requests and opportunities to encourage neighbors. Praise the Lord!

Call Mary Ford for more information.

Thank you.

Christine, Margarita and Mary

Social Gathering in Burgi’s Backyard - Are you ready to see some of your church friends in person? Friends Women are hosting a social time this Saturday, June 20 at 9:30 AM and all are invited to attend. This is not just for ladies. Cinnamon and/or pecan rolls will be served and all you need to bring is your mask for protection. Amor Hallowell, our missionary in the Philippines, will share. Please call Kay if you plan to attend as we want to prepare seating according to social distancing protocol. There is plenty of shade for your comfort and a restroom is available.

Executive Council Meeting - Executive Council will meet on June 23 at 6:00 PM as scheduled. The meeting will be held through Zoom unless communicated otherwise.

Fx Camps - Camp dates and costs have changed! Check out www.rmymyouth.com for the recent updates and links to registration. Camps will be $250/camper this year and will be split into two groups (Sr. High from July 12th – 15th and Middle and Junior from July 15th – 19th).  All information is subject to change based on updates to regulations. Registration will end June 28th and NO late registrations will be accepted. If you are waitlisted, please be patient as we wait to better understand regulations and figure out ways to accommodate additional campers.

DFC Fx Camp Scholarships - Need a little help to afford camp this year?  Contact Rebecca Scull (rlscull@yahoo.com) for information on scholarships.

You need to provide your own equipment, however, you can use wooden spoons or a bucket! Be creative! If you would like to participate, contact Mary Ford at 720-212-5213 or marybradyford@gmail.com for the Zoom link.

Everyone will be required to wear a mask during the entire meeting and to practice social distancing.

Contact Doug Holcombe or Michelle Cordean if there are any questions or concerns.  Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Every Day Deserves a Chance - Cross Trainers has begun a new book, “Every Day Deserves a Chance” by Max Lucado. Doesn't every day deserve a chance to be a good day? But what about those days when traffic snarls, airports close, friends forget, and spouses complain? Or divorce days, final exam days, surgery days, tax days, or even days when the cemetery dirt is still fresh? "Yes, every day," says best-selling author Max Lucado. In Every Day Deserves a Chance, he unpacks Jesus' delightful formula for upgrading each of your days to blue ribbon status: saturate your day in Jesus' grace; entrust your day to His oversight; accept His direction. Grace. Oversight. Direction. G-O-D. The perfect prescription for filling your day with divine power and giving every day a chance.

If you are interested in joining the class, contact Karen Burgi.

Financial Assistance - Quaker Aid is a benevolence fund set up by Denver Friends Church to provide emergency assistance for needy members and regular attendees. If you need assistance in these difficult times of Covid-19 virus, please contact the church office for an application with the specifics. We can help up to $1,000 in a 12-month period. Payments from Quaker Aid are typically made directly to a creditor, landlord, or other third party.

If you would like to contribute to the Quaker Aid fund, please designate your gift to “Quaker Aid”.

April 27-May 2

Hello Denver Friends Church! The COVID-19 Task Force at DFC would like to say thank you for how you have responded to these unprecedented times in the life of our church. You have stepped up to the challenge - praying, encouraging, helping, adapting, showing patience and kindness - these are just some of the ways you have demonstrated your love for one another. We are so proud of Denver Friends Church!

As many of you know, the stay-at-home order issued by the state ended last Sunday, April 26th. We are now entering a new phase as we slowly begin to ease social distancing restrictions. The COVID-19 Task Force at Denver Friends is continuing to monitor the situation, determining the best way to carry out the ministries of our church in the weeks and months ahead. Please pray that God will continue to give us wisdom, creativity and courage to step out into new ways of ministry as a church body. It has been so evident that God has been preparing our church for this time and is with us. May His hand continue to be upon us and bless Denver Friends Church!

March 30-April 5, 2020

Hello Denver Friends Church,

It has been so encouraging to see how we are supporting one another through these unprecedented times! By calling, emailing, Zooming, praying and visiting one another when possible, we are being the hands and feet of Jesus to one another. As we continue with the stay at home order, connecting with your church family and neighbors will become all the more vital. We need one another!  "We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord."  Ephesians 2:21, NLT

Below are the announcements for the week of March 30 - April 5.  Please send announcements you might have to Jan Haley at the church office. • Let's continue to connect!  Although we can't physically meet together as a congregation on Sundays, please continue to reach out to one another through phone calls, texts, emails, small groups, virtually, etc. Let's continue to support one another!

  • Friends Women and Quaker Chicks are (hopefully) hosting a Women’s Spring Tea on May 2 at Denver Friends Church from 2:00-4:00 PM. We have eight tables to decorate for the Women’s Tea. We are looking for eight women to be the hostess for each table. As a hostess, you will decorate your table for the tea with plates, tea cups, napkins, and your choice of decorations the evening or morning before the tea. If you have a tea pot and/or a two or three tier server to use, that would be great but several women have volunteered tea sets, servers and tea pots. Please Contact Judy Van Meter if you would like to host a table. Tickets will be on sale in April: Adult tickets - $8.00, tickets for Children from 5 to 12 - $5.00. We will be serving coffee and lemonade besides a selection of teas and, of course, a good variety of tea sandwiches and pastries. Our speaker for the Tea will be Christy Neifert. There will be prizes for the best and most unusual hats for both women and girls. Hope you can join in on the fun, food and fellowship with women of all ages.
