Life Groups -There are several Life Groups (small groups) that meet around the Denver area. If you are interested in attending one of these groups, please call the church office and we can tell you where these groups are meeting.

At our June DFC Business Meeting the CE Committee proposed a mission statement for our youth ministry program which was affirmed and approved. It reads:

“Denver Friends Church youth ministry exists to train, equip, engage, and inspire the next generation to live Christ-centered lives in the real world.”

It is evident that God is at work within our congregation, drawing our attention and hearts towards our children and teen ministries. The question now is how does God want us to pursue this mission statement as a congregation? We spent much of our time at the DFC Business Meeting praying and brainstorming as to how we can do just that! Some of our ideas were:

developing mentor/prayer partnerships with our adults and teens, having more inter-generational events and service projects to bring our adults and youth together, being more intentional about involving our youth in Sunday worship service, increasing the hours and expanding the job description of our youth pastor position, and many more.

We now need your help! A task force is being formed to develop a list of ways in which we will pursue this new youth ministry mission statement together. If you would like to be a part of it, please reach out to Ruth M’Gonigle or Karen Burgi, CE co-chairs. Also, we need you to  pray! Pray that God will lead us clearly, and we will follow Him boldly as a community of believers.

Pen Friends Update - The mandatory social restrictions that the COVID pandemic created has been difficult for everyone. Many senior living communities continue to remain on lockdown. Yet, good has come out of this situation. The Lord paved a path for Pen Friends volunteers to seize the opportunity to check on hundreds of shut-in elderlies in three assisted living residences in northwest Denver. Relational bridges are developing with these neighbors we did not know before the pandemic. A Mary Crest Serenity resident writes, “Dear Denver Friends, Thank you for the many cheerful Easter wishes, the '3:16, The Numbers of Hope' (gospel tract) and the surprising joke (bookmark)! It was nice to be remembered. May God bless all of you. With love and best regards, C.R."

We are grateful to Cathy Sheehan, Bev Little and Kathryn Clemenson for contributing greeting cards to Pen Friends. We will use them in our next mailing in mid-summer. We will happily accept your unused encouragement, inspiration or thinking of you, greeting cards, envelope seals of flowers, hearts, animals, etc. We would also welcome you to join us to fill out greeting cards to seniors; just leave them at the church on the table in the foyer or leave them at Margarita Jaramillo-Hall’s house any time before mid-July, the deadline to be determined. Feel free to contact her.

Youth Camping Trip - Hello, everyone! The warmer weather is finally here and many of us are making, or have already made, plans for this summer. I want to take this time to tell you about a youth camping trip that I am planning for this summer!

On the weekend of the 26th of June, I am planning a youth camping trip to a campground in Wyoming. It is roughly a two and a half hour drive from the church. The plan is to leave on Friday afternoon, be there all day Saturday, and come back on Sunday the 27th. We will be doing tent camping for the time we are there. There is no electricity and no running water, so it will be a weekend to enjoy the outdoors and each other! The main activity we will do while there is an afternoon of hiking. There is a trail that goes up the side of a mountain. Once we are at the top, we will get to enjoy a beautiful view for miles around!

This email is to let everyone know of this trip so they can get it on their calendars. More information will be sent out about this camping trip in the coming weeks. One thing to be thinking about is if you have any camping materials like tents or sleeping bags that we could borrow, if needed, for the weekend. There will be a deadline of June 8th to sign up for this camping trip so I have time to make sure I have enough supplies and chaperones for everyone that wants to go.

This is a trip that was planned last year and cancelled due to Covid. There was a lot of interest and excitement for the camping trip last year, so I am expecting the same this year!

Thanks, everyone!
